Introductions <3 / EMILY IS IN DA HOUSE
« Last post by xPeculiarTreasurex on April 18, 2011, 06:17:44 pm »
sorry guise. im really hyper right now <33

Name: Emily
Age: 16
Country: Canada
Aspirations: Become world famous author, get rich and retire early to a cottage in Muskoka or Prince Edward Island <3 lol.
Favourite Novel: Emily of New Moon. Which is ironic because I was named after that book <3
Favourite Series: SO MANY!! top 3 would have to be Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and The Chronicles of Narnia. (and if i could throw in A Series of Unfortunate Events and the Uglies series I would!!)
Favourite Author: C.S. Lewis, Suzanne Collins for a close second
Favourite Genre: Fantasy
Favourite Movie/Television Adaptation of a Novel: The first three Harry Potter movies <3
What do you look for in a book: Originality -- whether it be characters, plots, or settings!
Which book would you love to see turned into a movie/ tv show: The Hunger Games ... although I'm really hating the casting choices so far -__-
Which book is on the top of your must read list: I haven't read anything by Jane Austen...hmmm...
Which book release are you most anticipating: nothing currently.

I think I'll add a couple...
Least favourite book/series: TWILIGHT. I can write better than Stephanie Meyers (in my opinion anyways lol) BUT WHO GETS TO BE THE RICH AND FAMOUS ONE.
Least favourite adaptation of a book into a movie: for a while it was a tie between Bridge to Terebithia and the fifth Harry Potter, but now I'm going to say Voyage of the Dawn Treader without question. It made me CRY it was so badly adapted.
Least favourite book: LIFE OF PI. GARARRGHHGHARGHH THIS BOOK MAKES ME MAD. I'm not even finished, but I have to read it for English class and in my opinion, IT'S PRETTY BAD. It's so philosophical....which I guess I wouldn't mind except that I'm reading it for GRADE 10 ENGLISH. srsly. You've probably never heard of it, unless you're Canadian...

anyways...
I like to think of myself as a well-rounded reader, but honestly I'm not XD I like to stick to fantasy series/novels...I'm hoping this group will help me (: FAITH YOU ARE A FREAKING GENIUS FOR STARTING THIS. I find it so ironic that we are starting a book club in the internet....the place where people say is the reason books are going to waste XD  I HOPE I CAN KEEP UP WITH EVERYTHING. I'm a pretty average-paced reader.....I was wondering is it OK if at some points I'm not completely active?

KAYBYE.

I'm going to jump ahead and begin a discussion. I don't know if anyone has read Game of Thrones or even heard of the Ice and Fire series, but the HBO show just began yesterday and it's brilliant so far. A little raunchy at points, but if you're 18+ it's a perfectly enjoyable show. If anyone's a fan of the books, it's fabulous and I highly recommend it :) <3

HEY MAGGIE!!!! Glad that you joined too hun <3 Completely understand your dislike for the Twilight Saga. I really do. A Great and Terrible would make a great movie! I still have to read the Pillars of the Earth. It's the highest priority on my list <3

Name: Katie
Age: 18
Country: United States of America
Aspirations: To be a novelist (or at least get one book published in my lifetime)
Hobbies: writing, vidding, drawing, reading, wasting my life online
Favourite Novel: Looking For Alaska by John Green
Favourite Series: Probably Harry Potter
Favourite Author: John Green (and I say this because I love literally every book he's written so far. Even Zombicorns, if that counts)
Favourite Genre: Young Adult
Favourite Movie/Television Adaptation of a Novel: Probably either Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 1, The Princess Bride, or Watchmen.
What do you look for in a book: Great, relatable, real characters, good storyline, good writing.
Which book would you love to see turned into a movie/ tv show: All the books I love, I wouldn't want to be made into movies or they already have been...so, maybe A Kiss in Time by Alex Flinn (as long as they don't suck it up like they did for Beastly)
Which book is on the top of your must read list: Argh, right now I'm reading like, twenty-seven million books (more like ten), but I'm about halfway through Cloaked, just starting City of Bones, halfway through Northanger Abbey, and I have about four or five Sarah Dessen novels from Christmas that I haven't read yet...
Which book release are you most anticipating: The next John Green book!! All I'm getting are snippets of information, and I need to know what kind of book has Swedish hip-hop in it!!

And I think I should tell you now, but I hate Charlotte Bronte. First, I mean, she hated Jane Austen! How do you hate Jane Austen?! Plus, she spends like, fourteen pages describing curtains, but half a sentence on what Rochester looks like!! >_<

(My rant is over now. Sorry)
